Karnavedha Samskara is the sacred ear-piercing ceremony, typically performed between the 6th and 7th month after birth or during the first or third year. Ancient Ayurvedic texts suggest that ear piercing at specific points activates important nerve meridians connected to the brain. The ceremony is performed with care, prayer, and precision by the Pandit, with mantras chanted to protect the child from negative influences and to open their senses to divine wisdom.
